The Scottish Dream

Joël’s ‘The Scottish Dream’ captures the essence of the beauty and serenity of Scotland, a place that has been a lifelong dream for the artist. The empty spaces, beautiful landscapes, castles, and rivers depicted in the painting are a reflection of Joël’s longing to escape reality. This idea of escaping reality contrasted with the philosophy of yin-yang, which the painter was more and more interested in at the time. The use of clay in the painting adds a unique 3D effect, making the non-experienced reality of the dream almost as real as reality itself. The painting evokes a sense of beauty in the mind, the beauty of one’s dreams and the acceptance of wanting to escape the moment.
